While in Ms. Giknis' Reel Reading class, my peers and I had discovered that upon sitting in the best seats in the room, the speakers blast high volume sound directly into your ears. Since the speakers were at ear level while we were sitting, we could not enjoy the movies we were watching as much as we could have. With some quick thinking, we decided that shelves in the 8 inch space above the computer could hold the speakers higher up so the sound did not hit our ears directly.
I made up an initial design and started construction, to later realize that I was biting off more than I could chew. Then, I modified my design to make it more-or-less of a cookie cutter design that an average carpenter, like myself, could construct. With the guidance of John Kamal and mentor, Jason Marcus, I was able to construct the shelves out of old cabinet doors to be ready to mount on her wall. She was thrilled to have the new shelves designed and built by a student, to solve a problem in her classroom. |
